Ciria Vasquez Garza passed away on September 23, 2019 at the age of 96. She was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gil C. Garza, Jr., and her son, Charles V. Garza; her father, Francisco Vasquez and her mother, Siria Vela Vasquez; her sisters, Jesusita and Manuela; her brothers, Servando, Felipe, Rafael, Francisco, Carlos, and Jose; and grandson, Charles Garza, Jr.
Among those left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Divina Flores, Gloria Ledesma, Gil Garza III (Cathy), Georgienne Nassauer (Kurt), Gerard Garza (Patricia), and Gerald Garza (Herlinda); and 92 direct descendants.
Ciria was a very funny and loving person, always making the best of any situation. She will always be remembered for her jokes and her way of making everyone feel special.
Late in life she became adventurous and eager to learn and see new things. Ciria enjoyed traveling, being pampered, and talking on the phone. She appreciated and looked forward to Ginny's daily calls.
She loved music and sang beautifully. She especially enjoyed being serenaded by her loved ones. Every night at bedtime, Divina would sing, “Goodnight, Irene; Goodnight, Irene," and Ciria would respond, “I’ll see you in my dreams.”
Ciria was loved and cherished by all. She is gone but through her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren she lives forever in our hearts and in our memories. Her parting words were always, “Forget me not.” Until we meet again, Vaya con Dios.
Love, Your Descendants.
