Jose "Pepe" G. Perez

Jose G. Perez age 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2020, in Dallas, TX. He was born on April 18, 1929 to Cecilio and Amada Garza Perez and he was christened on June 15, 1930 at St Francis de Paula Catholic Church. Jose “Pepe” Perez married Herlinda Munoz on January 4, 1953 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alice, TX. He worked for the City of Corpus Christi and then eventually retired after many years of service from the convention center. He enjoyed planting, gardening, and doing yard work up until he was no longer able to do so. He had a sense of humor and loved to joke around. Jose was a spiritual man and had great faith. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by parents; an angel that was lost before birth; and son, Reynaldo (Rey) Perez. Jose was the last survivor of all his siblings; Felipe Perez (1905), Andres Perez (1909), Serapio Perez (1911), Carmen Perez (1912), Jesusa Perez, Maria Mercedes Mendez (1915), Bernabe G. Perez, (1917), Aurelia P. Lara (1919), Juan G. Perez (1922), Jesus Perez (1924), Adela Perez (1925-1927), Jovita Perez (1927-1929), Jose Perez (1929), Emeterio Perez (1929-1932), Ramon Perez (1934-1942), Cecilio Perez, Jr. (1935-1938), and Amada Perez.

He is survived by his loving wife, Herlinda M. Perez; children,  Jesse Perez (Deanna), David Perez, Amada Ortiz (fiancé Felix Salinas), Esmeralda Almanza (Oscar), Sylvia Batres, Blanca Morales (Johnny), Joe Perez (Becky), Adelita Solis (Lionel), Nelda Shahhosseini (Kamran), and Cindy Arciniega (Lupe). Jose also raised Amo & Joe Alejandro as his children from a very young age; 32 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  

Serving as Pallbearers are; Pallbearers, Johnny Morales, Michael Morales, Jacob Morales, Chris Perez, Patrick Perez, Marcus Perez.

The family will receive condolences on Friday, January 24, 2020, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Treviño Funeral Home Alice, 120 E. Front St., with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A funeral cortege will depart on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at 8:15 AM to St Francis de Paula Catholic Church for a mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 9:00 AM. Rite of committal and interment will follow at San Diego Cemetery No. 2.

Family will host a luncheon at St. Joseph Parish Hall following the services.
