Reynaldo Rocha Fuentes (Ray), Lance Corporal USMC, left on angel wings to be with our Lord on July 14, 2024. Born on November 25, 1945, Ray is preceded in death by his father, Antonio Fuentes, Sr.; mother, Josephine Rocha Fuentes; brother, Antonio Fuentes, Jr.; and sister (newborn). He is survived by wife, Rosa Linda Hartt-Fuentes; children, Ronnie Fuentes, Christina Fuentes, Estevan Fuentes; grandchildren, Alex Riley, Sabrina Riley, Malia Rae Fuentes; four great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Misty Roach, Chris Hartt; sisters, Adel Fuentes, Norma Camarillo; nieces, Sandra Fabela, Amber Busby; nephews, Marcos Fuentes, Phillip Fuentes, Adrian Fuentes, Brian Fuentes, Luke Camarillo; aunt, Natividad Alvarez; and numerous cousins (Special thank you to Cousin Linda Longoria for her assistance).
Having valiantly served in Vietnam, Ray was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps; he earned various medals, commendations, and citations for his service. He took great pride and highly valued his military service.
Having a charismatic and outgoing personality, Ray loved being around people. These characteristics and his passion for cars led him to be a successful auto salesman. Later he opened his own car lot, Fuentes Auto Sales, in Houston Texas. After retiring from the auto industry, Ray moved and settled in his hometown of Corpus Christi to be near his family. He was a hard worker and successful at everything he did. By modeling hard work, Ray instilled a strong work ethic in his children.
As a young man, Ray earned recognition as a robust and talented baseball player. He enjoyed reading, keeping up with sports and politics, spending time with friends and family, and caring for pets. Having a knack for making friends, throughout his life, Ray could always be seen with his own entourage. Having a generous nature, he was the type of person that would give the shirt off his back to help out others.
Ray was a pillar of strength, who refused to show or succumb to weakness. Not being a quitter, he fought a hard battle smiling in the face of adversity. Although he will be missed, we will persevere. We look forward to being reunited with our beloved Ray in the House of the Lord.
Ray’s family will receive condolences on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @Port Ave. A Holy Rosary and a Funeral Mass will be held beginning at 10:30 AM at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. Ray will be laid to rest with full military honors at 1:00 PM at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas.
