Alberto F. “Beto” Montelongo

Alberto F. Montelongo, lovingly known as “Beto,” passed away with his family by his side on August 12, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on May 8, 1943, in Laredo, Texas, he was the beloved son of the late Ismael and Aurora Montelongo. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Reynaldo and Guadalupe Montelongo.

Alberto proudly served in the United States Army Reserve, enlisting on March 26, 1961, and achieving the rank of Specialist Four (SP4) in the Standby Reserve. During his service, he became an accomplished marksman with the M1 rifle, a skill that reflected his steady hand, discipline, and dedication. He was honorably discharged on January 31, 1969.

A man of many talents, Alberto loved fishing, rooting for the Dallas Cowboys, and working on cars. A pioneer in the paint and bodywork field, he owned and operated multiple body shops throughout his life, where his craftsmanship and dedication were recognized and admired by many. Later in life, he retired from Brand Scaffolding where he worked for many years as a skilled forklift driver.

Above all, Alberto’s greatest pride was his family. He loved his wife deeply and lived for his children and grandchildren. His presence brought joy, strength, and guidance to those around him. Alberto’s legacy lives on through the values he instilled in his family and the countless memories they will cherish forever. His kindness, warmth, and genuine spirit left a lasting impact on everyone he met.

Alberto is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Diana C. Montelongo; his sons, Alberto Montelongo Jr. and Reynaldo Montelongo; his daughters, Debbie Zahaczewski, Michelle Hernandez, Yvette Montelongo, and Tammy Irving; and his brother, Johnny Montelongo. He is also lovingly remembered by his 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
