Alberto Ruiz Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and a lifelong resident of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2023. Born on October 6, 1950, Alberto lived a life filled with laughter, love, devotion, and a deep sense of faith.
Raised in the heart of Corpus Christi, Alberto attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where he was instilled with a strong sense of community and unwavering faith. He carried these values throughout his life, becoming a beacon of hope and positivity to everyone he encountered. Alberto was known not only for his faith-filled and selfless nature but also for his quick wit and humor. He had a knack for making people laugh and was always the life of the party.
Alberto's professional journey was as a security guard for the museum, a role he took great pride in. He was a familiar and comforting presence at the museum, often regaling visitors with stories and anecdotes. Despite the serious nature of his job, Alberto never missed an opportunity to share a joke or a funny story, bringing smiles to the faces of both colleagues and visitors alike.
Alberto was a dedicated family man, deeply loved by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Ruiz, daughter Brenda Ruiz, and sisters Viviana Reyes, Petra Ruiz, and Alice Ruiz, as well as his parents, Alberto Ruiz Sr. and Trinidad Ruiz. His legacy will be carried forward by his surviving children, Petra Sanchez (Tony), Elizabeth Rodriguez (Andrew), Abigail Ruiz, Trinidad Ruiz, Ruby Ruiz (Kristopher), and son Alberto Ruiz III. His sister Ignacia (Hector Garces) also survives him. Alberto was also blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom he cherished spending holidays and special occasions.
A man of varied interests, Alberto had an unquenchable love for cowboy, karate, and ninja movies. His enthusiasm for these genres was infectious, and many family movie nights were spent in the company of John Wayne, Bruce Lee, or masked ninjas. Alberto was also a talented singer, often serenading his family and friends with his favorite tunes. His renditions of classic songs were a highlight of many family gatherings.
Alberto Ruiz Jr.'s life was a testament to a man who lived his faith, loved deeply, and laughed heartily. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering faith. His memory will be cherished and his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Alberto's life was a beautiful melody that resonated with love, faith, humor, and warmth. His loss will be deeply felt, but his memory will continue to inspire his family and all who knew him. As we remember Alberto, we celebrate a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a legacy that will continue to touch lives for generations to come.
The family will receive condolences on Friday, July 28, 2023, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara @ Port Ave, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM and Liturgy of the Word at 7:30 PM. Services will conclude that evening.
