Alfredo Valerio, a dedicated teacher and cherished Vietnam Navy veteran, passed away on March 28, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on May 30, 1947, Alfredo led a life marked by commitment to his family, his country, and his community.
Throughout his career as an educator, Alfredo inspired countless students with his passion for knowledge and his unwavering dedication to their growth and success. His service extended beyond the classroom as he honorably served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, exemplifying courage and patriotism.
Alfredo enjoyed a rich and fulfilling life, taking pleasure in hunting, cultivating his own vegetables, and most importantly, spending treasured moments with his loved ones. He found joy in the simple yet profound experiences that connected him to both nature and family.
He is survived by his two siblings, Magdalena (Ruben) Nunez and Jose Arturo (Ana) Valerio, both from San Diego, Texas. His familial circle also includes his ex-wife, Rosario G. Valerio of Corpus Christi, Texas; and his four beloved daughters, Margarita Valerio of Corpus Christi, Teresita Nielsen of Phoenix, Arizona, Valerie Valerio of Corpus Christi, and Christina Valerio of Corpus Christi. Alfredo’s legacy continues through his twelve grandchildren, Edward, Heather, Danera, John, Derik, Sayde, Celeste, Alicia, Feliciano, Gabriel, Isaiah, and Matthew; and two great-grandchildren, A.R., and Scarlett Cordell, who were a source of immense pride and affection for him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Anita Verdin Valerio; his father, Jesus T. Valerio; and his brother, Leonel (Enedelia) Valerio, whose memories he held dearly.
Alfredo’s family will receive condolences on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara @ Port Ave. A Holy Rosary and Liturgy of the Word will begin at 12:00 PM. Rite of Committal and Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
Alfredo Valerio’s life was one of service, dedication, and love. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
