Anatolio “Nat” Gonzalez, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and respected veteran, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, in his hometown of Alice, Texas. Born on October 25, 1949, Anatolio's life was marked by dedication to his family, his country, and the community he cherished.
A native of Alice, Texas, Anatolio carried the spirit of his hometown throughout his life. He graduated from William Adams High School in 1968. He took immense pride in his service to the United States Army, dedicating at least three years to his country with honor and commitment. His time in the military was a defining chapter, reflecting his steadfast values and sense of duty.
Anatolio enjoyed life’s simple pleasures and was an avid sports fan. He especially loved watching the Dallas Cowboys, the Houston Astros, and basketball games. He also enjoyed gambling and looked forward to trips to the Eagle Pass Casino. A lover of music, Anatolio spent countless hours listening to Tejano music, which brought him great joy. His warm spirit, sense of humor, and love for family and friends will be remembered by all who knew him.
Anatolio's devotion to his family was evident to all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Elva "Judy" Gonzalez, who stood by his side through life’s many seasons. His legacy continues in his children, Rick Gonzalez and Erika Trevino (Andrew), who carry forward the values he instilled. He was a proud grandfather to Adam, Noah, Luke, Rayleen, Gabriela, and Heaven, whose lives he enriched with his love and guidance.
He is also remembered fondly by his siblings, Raul Gonzalez, accompanied by his wife Katie, and Rodolfo Gonzalez. His extended family includes his brother and sister-in-law, Lucy Munoz and David, as well as Raul Villalpando Jr. and Melba, who have all been a source of strength and comfort.
Anatolio was preceded in death by his parents, Adan and Evangelina Gonzalez, whose legacy he honored throughout his life. He also mourned the loss of his son, Ray Gonzalez; in-laws, Raul and Adelita Villalpando; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Rosendo Coronado.
The memory of Anatolio Gonzalez will forever be cherished by those whose lives he touched. His enduring commitment to his family and country stands as a testament to a life well lived. In his passing, the community of Alice, Texas, has lost a man of integrity, love, and unwavering strength.
Anatolio’s family will receive condolences on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Treviño Funeral Home Alice, 120 E Front St., from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM, with a Holy Rosary starting at 7:00 PM. A chapel service will begin at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Treviño Funeral Home Alice, followed by Rite of Committal and Interment at Roselawn Memorial Park, where Anatolio will be laid to rest in the peace of Christ.
Honoring Anatolio as pallbearers are Adam Gonzalez, Noah Gonzalez, Luke Gonzalez, Raul Villalpando Jr., James Southerland, and J.D. Munoz. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Contreras and Raymond Hernandez.
