She departed this world as she had lived in it, surrounded by the love of her family in her beloved hometown of Corpus Christi. Angelita's life was a testament to the power of love. She was a devoted wife, having shared 52 beautiful years with her late husband, Arturo J. Martinez, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a legacy of affection and commitment that continues to inspire. Angelita was the cherished daughter of Celso and Rebecca Parea Martinez III, and she held her sisters, Ramona Rodriguez and Rebecca Martinez, close to her heart, all of whom had passed before her. Her spirit lives on through her adoring daughter, AngieJo (Sergio) Sanches, who reflects her mother's nurturing heart. Angelita's grandsons, Abel (Meranda) Franco Jr. and Abraham (AB) Franco, and her granddaughter, Vivian Silva, were the apples of her eye, and she delighted in their every achievement and milestone. Her nieces, Grace Mendoza, Priscilla Rodriguez, Michelle Vega, and Kathy Saucedo, will carry forward her legacy of kindness and warmth. Angelita's life was a celebration of simple joys. She found immense pleasure in the company of her grandsons, nieces, and sisters. Her laughter was a frequent guest at family gatherings, especially during spirited games of Loteria Bingo. Angelita's love for pan dulce was only matched by her fondness for dining out at her favorite restaurant, Ol' Steakhouse Co., where she was a familiar and beloved patron. Those who knew Angelita will remember her as the embodiment of love, kindness, and gentleness. Her presence was a comforting balm, her words a soothing melody, and her actions a gentle caress. She moved through life with a grace that uplifted others, and her spirit was a guiding light that shone brightly even in moments of darkness. In celebrating Angelita M. Angelita’s family will receive condolences on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port Ave., from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM followed by the Liturgy of the Word at 7:30 PM. A Rite of Committal and Inurnment will take place on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, at 11:00AM.
