Anita M Ramon

Anita Martinez Ramon, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at the age of 94. She was born on October 26, 1928, to her parents Teódulo and Eulalia Martinez. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

After graduating from William Adams High School in Alice, Anita married Lupe Ramon in 1948 and they were blessed with four children.

Shortly after Lupe died in 1976, Anita’s professional life led her to her favorite job ever as a dorm director at the then Texas A&I University in Kingsville. She loved helping students; their youthfulness and energy invigorated her own life. The University also opened her to a range of other opportunities, including frequent trips to explore the rich cultural and archaeological history of Mexico.

Anita’s life was a sustained expression of her deep-rooted love for God and Jesus Christ, a love that she instilled in her large family, friends, and everyone who met her. A reflection of her faith, another in her life was missionary work that offered comfort and served as a living expression of God’s love. Anita helped medical charities as an interpreter in Mexico and organized annual donations to support an orphanage in Piedras Negras, Coahuila.

Though dementia late in life robbed her of much, she could still recite favorite Bible verses, sing treasured hymns, and cite the address of her home church, Primera Iglesia Bautista. She often recommended to non-Baptists that they could go to that address---1509 Tarleton, Corpus Christi, Texas---so that they could find the Lord and His eternal love.

Anita is proceeded in death by her husband Lupe Ramon; her parents, Teódulo and Eulalia Martinez; and son, Samuel Ramon.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Mario (Rosa) Ramon of Katy, TX, Linda Ramon of Uvalde, TX, Adrian (Rose) Ramon of Murrieta, CA; and daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Ramon of Corpus Christi, TX. Her legacy also lives on in her seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Many dear friends, siblings, and family members await her in the celestial kingdom of our Lord and will celebrate her arrival.

The family will receive condolences on Monday, January 2, 2023, at Trevino Funeral Home, 120 E. Front St., from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with a Prayer Service to begin at 10:00 AM. Following, a funeral cortege will depart the funeral home for Rite of Committal and Interment at New Collins Cemetery.
