Antonio F. Gonzalez, a stalwart figure in his family and community, left this world on December 29, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on August 31, 1948, in the vibrant town of Brownsville, Texas, Antonio lived a full life marked by devotion, resilience, and an unwavering spirit.
A proud veteran, he served with honor in the United States Marines, embodying the values of duty and service that would characterize his life. He served in Vietnam for two years starting November 5, 1968. He then continued in the reserves for four years. Antonio's experience in the military shaped his strong principles and laid the foundation for a man who would dedicate himself to his family and those around him.
Following his military service, Antonio built a remarkable career with the Transport Company of Texas, now known as Groendyke Transport. He devoted 44 years of loyal service to the company, beginning as a serviceman and later advancing to the role of dispatcher. His strong work ethic, reliability, and dedication earned him the respect of colleagues and supervisors alike, and his long tenure stood as a testament to his commitment and perseverance.
In his personal life, Antonio found joy in the simple yet profound pleasures that life offered. He was an ardent supporter of the Cowboys and Longhorns football teams, embracing the spirit of competition with the same fervor he brought to all his pursuits. His passion extended beyond the gridiron; Antonio cherished his time spent fishing and playing tennis, where laughter and camaraderie filled the air.
A man of faith, he held his church close to his heart. The sanctuary was not just a place of worship for Antonio; it was a community where he forged connections and fostered love.
Antonio's favorite color, blue, reflected not only his personality but also his unwavering calm in the turbulence of life. It was a hue that resonated with his spirit—a tone of tranquility amidst the complexities of existence.
Preceded in death by his father Antonio F. Gonzalez, his mother Concepcion Gonzalez, brother Moses Gonzalez, and son-in-law Tomas Leza Jr.
Surviving him is his beloved wife, Margarita P. Gonzalez, with whom he shared 54 remarkable years of marriage. Their union was a testament to love, companionship, and partnership. Together, they nurtured a family that embodies his legacy. He leaves behind his cherished daughter, Nellie A. Leza, and two sons, Antonio Gonzalez III and Randy Gonzalez, who carry forward his values and memory. The joy in his life also came from his siblings: sisters Lupe Ortiz, Janie Lerma, and Rose Roth, and brothers Nick, Danny, Joel, Michael, and Mark Gonzalez, who shared countless memories of laughter and support. He was the proud grandfather of Jaxon Stone, Jordan Stone, and Jeslyn Stone, and also had many nieces and nephews whose lives he touched with wisdom and warmth.
Antonio's presence will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will forever illuminate the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy, rooted in love, service, and devotion, will continue to inspire generations to honor the beauty of life and cherish the bonds of family and friendship.
