Armando Barrera Trevino, a cherished patriarch and respected community member, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2024, in Corpus Christi, TX, at the age of 88. Born on August 4, 1936, in Edinburg, TX, Armando's life was one of dedication, service, and joy which he shared generously with all who knew him. Armando's early years were spent in the warm embrace of his family in Edinburg. He was the beloved son of Antonio and Dolores B. Trevino, who, along with his siblings Alejandro, Alberto, Alfredo, Antonio Jr, Abelardo, Alvarado, Angelica, and Alma Gloria Trevino, preceded him in death. His surviving sister, Mary Ann Trevino Obregon, along with countless nieces and nephews, will fondly remember Armando's unwavering love and guidance. A proud veteran, Armando served his country in the United States Army from April 23, 1954, to April 7, 1956. His time in the service was marked by the honor and integrity that would become the hallmarks of his character. Upon being honorably discharged, he returned to Texas, where he would lay down roots and build a life filled with love, laughter, and accomplishment. Armando's legacy is carried on through his children, Armando Trevino Jr, Lee (Cynthia) Trevino, Jose Antonio Trevino, Alex Trevino, Mando Trevino, and Victoria Trevino. Each of them embodies his spirit of kindness and strength. His grandchildren, Anthony Lee Trevino, Lee Trevino Jr, Jonathan Lee Trevino, Mary Lou Trevino, and Stephanie Skylor Guadalupe Trevino, will forever cherish the memories of their grandfather's wisdom and the gentle way he encouraged them to pursue their dreams. Those who knew Armando understood his love for the simple pleasures in life. He found solace and joy sitting by the water, gazing out at the ocean view that brought him peace. An avid lottery player, Armando delighted in the thrill of scratch-offs and picking numbers, a pastime that brought him excitement and a touch of hope. Armando's presence was a gift to his family and to the community that he served so selflessly. His absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. As we bid farewell to Armando Barrera Trevino, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey marked by love, honor, and the quiet dignity of a life dedicated to family and country.
