Armando Gonzalez, Sr. passed away on February 12, 2026, at the age of 77. He was born on August 12, 1948, in Port Isabel, Texas, to Ester Holland Garza and Juan Zepeda Gonzalez. Armando was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend who brought joy and laughter to all who knew him.
Armando leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary Duenes Gonzalez, who, along with their children, cherishes the memories they created together. He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Gonzalez (Alejandro M), Rachel Gonzalez (Paul V), and Yvette Herrera. His sons, Gabriel Gonzalez, Alex Gonzalez, and Armando (Laverne) Morales, will also carry his spirit forward. He is further remembered by his siblings, Irma (Rodolfo) Garza, Maria Estella (David Garza Jr.), Rene (Rose) Gonzalez, Juan Gonzalez Jr. (Maria), Jesus David Gonzalez (Socorro), and Patricia (Joe) Alvarez. Armando's legacy will live on in the hearts of numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Known for his love of sports and music, Armando always brought a good time wherever he went. He had a unique way of connecting with those around him, often sharing a laugh or offering wise words. As he would often say, "Puro pinche cowboys," a testament to his spirited nature and love for the Dallas Cowboys.
Armando is preceded in death by his parents, Ester Holland Garza and Juan Zepeda Gonzalez, as well as his son, Armando Gonzalez Jr.
Armando’s family will receive condolences on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St., from 9:00 AM until 11:30 AM, with a Prayer Service to begin at 11:30 AM. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, at 1:00 PM.
Armando Gonzalez, Sr. will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, unwavering love for his family, and the joy he brought to the lives of many. May he rest in peace.
