Audelia Basaldu

Audelia Basaldu entered into the loving hands of our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, peacefully in the comfort of her home.  She was born on February 5, 1941 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Audelia “Lela” worked for Texas Industrial Services, which today is known as Unifirst, where she was a supervisor for over 39 years.  We used to call it Lelafirst.  Lela was a quiet and sweet person.  She by far is the definition of selfless.  You never caught Audelia doing or thinking of herself before others.  Not at all the spotlight in a crowd, but she loved to talk to people one on one.  Lela was the one you could always count on to be there throughout all your milestones in life.  Many of you know and could recognize her beautiful handwriting from Birthday or Christmas cards she gave so many of us throughout the years.  Lela never forgot about any of us.

Audelia never drove a car, but quickly learned to drive late in life for her grandkids, Miranda, Sabra, Aubrey, and Dale.

Lela was preceded in death by her parents, Clementina and Daniel Basaldu; brothers, Samuel, David, and Robert Basaldu; and daughter in law, Emily (Steve) Basaldu.

Left behind to carry on Audelia’s legacy is her one and only son, Esteban Basaldu; grandchildren, Miranda Beaver, Sabra (Edward) Contreras, Aubrey Taylor, and Dale (Michelle) Taylor; great- grandchildren, Zaylee, Zayne, and Zacharee Beaver and Eren Royce; her two favorite sisters, Elizabeth (David R.) Lopez and Ester Basaldu; and extended family members.

The family will receive condolences on Sunday, June 20, 2021, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. at Port; with a prayer to begin at 6:00 PM.  A chapel service will take place on Monday, June 21, 2021, at 11:30 AM at Treviño Funeral Home.  Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.

Face masks must be worn, and social distancing must be practiced while attending funeral services due to the current pandemic.
