Augusto Cesar Vela, Sr.

Augusto Cesar Vela, Sr. was welcomed at the heavenly gates by his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 25, 2014. Cesar was born on March 28, 1939 to Enrique and Diamantina Vela. Cesar retired from Coastal Chemicals Company after 32 years. Cesar also was Pastor, along with his wife Rosie, of Emanuel Christian Church and School; where he loved to sing to the Lord. He loved his family and they were the center of his life. He is survived by his wife, Rosie; two daughters, Norma (Jacob) Sorenson from Mt. Zion, IL, and Amber (Isaac) Garza from Corpus Christi, TX; three sons: Cesar Vela, Jr. from Corpus Christi, TX, David (Linda) Vela from San Antonio, TX, and Ruben (Cale) Vela from San Antonio, TX; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Raquel Fernandez and Yolanda (George) Salyer; one brother, Raul Vela; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 29, 2014, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara at Port, in Corpus Christi Texas. A celebration of life will start at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. A chapel service will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at 10:00 am at Trevino Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
