Aurora Cruz Munguia, age 91, went to the hands of the Lord on February 6, 2014. She is preceded in death by her husband, Pete Munguia, Jr.; her parents, Martin S. Cruz and Irene C. Cruz; four brothers: Martin Jr., Enrique, Alfonso, and Fred; two sisters, Hortencia C. Rodriguez and Elida C. Torres. She is survived by her sons, Reynaldo (Cammie) Munguia and Richard (Nettie) Munguia, all of Corpus Christi, TX; her daughter, Nelda (Michael) Cotter of North Hills, CA; her five grandchildren: Richard Nathan Munguia of Anaheim, CA, Yvette Marie Munguia of Corpus Christi, TX, Martha (Phil) Clements of Bryan, TX, Paul Michael Cotter of Chicago, IL, and Caroline Cotter Akazou of London, England; her five great-grandchildren: Marissa and Alyssa De Alejandro of Corpus Christi, TX, Oliver and Thomas Akazou of London, England, and Alexis Rose Munguia of Anaheim, CA. The family would like to give special thanks for the loving home care from Mary Alice Torres, Terry Garcia, Maria Cruz, and Isela Castellano; and Bayside Home Health and Angel Bright Hospice. Mrs. Munguia was an active and vital member of Christ The King Parish for over 55 years. She was a founding member of "La Amista" Spanish choir and a member of the Curillistas at Christ The King. She was also the parish Sacristan; as well as active in the parish Boy Scout Pack, Troop #177 for several years. Mrs. Munguia served on many committees, served as President of Palacio Residential Housing for seniors, and volunteered her time at the Greenwood Center where she served meals, made birthday calls, and performed office work. The family will be receiving friends on Monday, February 10, 2014, at Christ The King Catholic Church from 5 to 9 pm., with a Rosary to be recited that evening at 7:00 pm. Rites of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at Christ The King Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will include members of the Knights of Columbus. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Knights of Columbus for their great help in our time of need.
