In Loving Memory of Benito Porras Alvarez September 13, 1935 – June 8, 2025
With heavy hearts and profound love, we announce the passing of Benito Porras Alvarez, who entered eternal rest on Sunday, June 8, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. He was 89 years old.
Benito was born on September 13, 1935, in Tamaulipas, Mexico, to Guadalupe Leos and Hilaria Porras. A devoted father, grandfather, and friend, Benito built a life centered around faith, family, and love.
He is preceded in death by his cherished wife, Amelia Lucio, and beloved children Esperanza Castillo, Tony Lucio II, and Arturo Alvarez. His legacy of strength, humor, and deep love lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Benito is survived by his loving children, Richard Lucio (DeAnna) of Round Rock, TX, David Lucio (Ginny) of Crosby, TX, George Lucio (Lisa) of Channelview, TX, Patsy Garcia (Ernest †) of Corpus Christi, TX, Mary Jane Trevino (Jesse) of Hutto, TX, Debbie Guzman (Marcelino) of Austin, TX, Raul Lucio (Carmen) of Corpus Christi, TX, Albert Lucio (Sandy) of Corpus Christi, TX, Arturo Lucio (Rhonda) of Corpus Christi, TX, Rosa Sanchez (Rudy) of Corpus Christi, TX, Belinda Gonzales (Greg) of Corpus Christi, TX, Juan Ahumada (Irma) of Corpus Christi, TX, Jaime Alvarez of Corpus Christi, TX, Rosa Rodriguez of Corpus Christi, TX, Benito Alvarez Jr. of Corpus Christi, TX, and Salvador Alvarez (Melissa) of Corpus Christi, TX.
Benito’s life was richly blessed with 56 grandchildren, 87 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him tremendous joy and pride. He also leaves behind Maggie Gomez, with whom he shared a warm and loving companionship in his later years.
A man of deep loyalty and zest for life, Benito was the #1 Astros baseball fan, never missing a game and always cheering passionately for his team. He found joy in music, dancing, and—most importantly—spending time with his family. His laughter, storytelling, and spirited personality brought light into every room he entered.
Benito's memory will forever live on in the lives he touched, the traditions he passed down, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
