Benny Lian Vela

Benny Lian Vela, age 26, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016. Benny was a loving, caring, protective, compassionate, companion, father, son, brother, and uncle. He loved to go fishing and spend time with his family. His smile, and laughter will be dearly missed. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Crisensio and (Jacinta Rivera) Vela. Benny leaves behind his loving companion, Lisa Mendez; children, Derienrae Zaden Vela, Raelene Kalen Vela; step-children, Michael Mendez, Makayla Mendez, Mariah Mendez; parents, Jesus (Criselda) Vela, Sr.; brothers and sisters, Jesus Manuel Vela (Jessica Savage), Ruben Alexander (Yvette Marie) Vela, Julian Vela (Jennifer Chavarria), Fernando Andres Vela, Marla Faith Preston, Steven James Preston, Christopher Allen Preston; maternal grandparents, Jesse Cardenas (Monica Maciel) Borrego; loving God parents, Rupert (Glenda) Garcia III; seven nephews; and three nieces. The family will be receiving friends at Treviño Funeral Home 3006 Niagara at Port on Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 3 pm to 9 pm; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 pm. Rites of Christian burial will be celebrated at Christ the King Catholic Church on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 10 am; interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
