Candelaria “Candy” Martinez, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 10, 2023, in Corpus Christi, TX. Born on February 2, 1953, in Valle Hermoso, Candelaria lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to others. Candelaria was a woman of strength and resilience, who dedicated ten years of her life to serving as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Her compassionate nature and unwavering commitment to her patients were a testament to her character. She was a pillar of strength for her family and her community, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Candelaria was a woman of many interests. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as tending to her garden, solving crossword puzzles, and immersing herself in the captivating world of novelas. Her garden was a testament to her nurturing spirit, blooming with the same love and care she extended to her family and friends. Candelaria was preceded in death by her parents, Victoriano and Consuelo Zuniga; her husband, Ricardo Martinez, Sr.; son, Raymundo Martinez; and grandson, Jonathan Ray Martinez. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion in her surviving family members. Her loving daughter, Corina Diaz; sons, Ricardo Martinez, Jr., Roberto Martinez (Sandra), and Andres Ramon; sister, Frances Zuniga; brother, Martin Zuniga; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren will forever cherish her memory. Her extended family and friends, who were fortunate enough to know and love her, will also miss her deeply. Candelaria Martinez's life was a beautiful journey, filled with love, service, and dedication. Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate her life, remembering the love, joy, and warmth she brought into our lives. May her soul rest in peace.
Candelaria’s family will receive condolences on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara @ Port Ave, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM that evening. A funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 12:30 PM on Friday, July 14, 2023, to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
