Carlos A. Beristain

Carlos was born May 25th, 1943 to Victor Beristain & Josephine Arreguin in Los Fresnos, Texas and departed this life in Corpus Christi, Texas on March 31st, 2018 at the age of 74 years 11 months and 24 days. Carlos grew up in Chicago Illinois. He married Wanda Young May 24th 1994 in Wichita Falls, Texas. They made their home in various places due to the military service until settling in, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He enlisted in the military in 1961 in Chicago, Illinois. He worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube in Chicago, IL as well as Inland Steel Company in Chicago, IL. He became active duty military in 1977. He spent years of his military careers in different countries 7 years in Germany, 4 months in Saudi Arabi, 6 months in Honduras, 1 year in Korea, and 4 months in Haiti. He retired from the military on July 31st 1996 in Fort Campbell, Kentucky as A Sgt First Class. After retirement of the military he became a Juvenile Detention Officer in Richmond, Texas. He then went on to be a JROTC instructor for DeSoto, Tx. ISD, Lancaster ISD as well as a instructor at the Texas A&M of Corpus Christi, Tx. He served in the Dessert Storm War. He received numerous awards to include; Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Valorous Unit Award, Army Good Conduct, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Noncommissioned Officer’s Professional.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Victor Beristain & Josephine Arreguin. His sister Diane Beristain & his brother Robert Beristain.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Beristain, of the home; 4 children and spouses. Carlos Berstain Jr. & Rudolph Beristain of Chicago, Illinois. Vicki Roach of Lawton, Oklahoma & Don Mills and Donna of Lawton, Ok. 3 grandchildren, Heather Reid of Bonney Lake, Washington. Phillip Mills and Briley Munchel of Lawton, OK. and other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
