Catherine “Cathy” Del Llano Jeffries, a beacon of love and laughter, graced this world with her presence on July 20, 1960, in Corpus Christi, where she also peacefully passed away on June 16, 2024. Cathy's life was a testament to the joy and creativity that can be found in the everyday, and her legacy is one of warmth, humor, and boundless affection. Born into the loving arms of David and Margaret Del Llano, Cathy grew up in a home where the value of family was deeply ingrained. Though her father, David, preceded her in death, she continued to embody the family spirit he instilled in her. Cathy's mother, Margaret; her son, James Jeffries; and her brothers, David (with Pat James), Henry (with Annette Salas Del Llano), and Alex (with Susie); along with her adored nephews and nieces, John Henry, Justin, Alex Jr., Nathan, Christopher, Matthew, Cassidee, Josiah, Amarah, Joel, Devin, Jewel, Jade, and Jordynn Del Llano, and Aiden, Summer, and Matthias Crews, Hailey, Lillian, and Sebastian survive her. Each of these individuals was a precious thread in the vibrant tapestry of her life. Cathy dedicated her professional life to nurturing young minds, spending over two decades at a day care on the Naval Air Base. Her passion for children was not just a career but a calling. She poured her heart into every interaction, every game, every lesson, ensuring that the children in her care felt loved and valued. Her work was not just a job; it was a manifestation of her innate ability to connect with and uplift others. Her interests were as diverse as they were delightful. Cathy's love for children was matched only by her love for her family, especially her nieces and nephews, with whom she spent countless hours creating memories that would last a lifetime. She was an avid cook, a music enthusiast, and an arts and crafts aficionado, always finding new ways to express her creative spirit. A die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, Cathy's loyalty to her team was unwavering until the charm and talent of Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs won her over. The playful betrayal was a source of much amusement and banter, especially as she and her mother shared their love for football, sitting side by side, cheering and laughing loudly. Cathy's laughter was indeed loud and contagious, a reflection of her funny and loving nature. She had the rare ability to light up a room with her humor, to turn a frown into a smile, and to make everyone feel like they were the most important person in the world. Her creative spark ignited inspiration in others, and her funny anecdotes and joyful demeanor were a source of constant entertainment and comfort. In a world that often focuses on the destination, Cathy Del Llano Jeffries reminded us all to enjoy the journey. She was a living example of how to love unconditionally, create joyfully, and laugh heartily. Her life was a masterclass in the art of positivity, and she was a motivational force that encouraged us to embrace our passions and cherish our loved ones. As we remember Cathy, let us carry forward the lessons she imparted through her actions and her spirit. Let us love a little deeper, laugh a little louder, and create a little more boldly. Cathy's life was a beautiful reminder that the most profound impact we can have is to spread joy and love to those around us. Her memory will continue to inspire and motivate us to live our lives with the same passion and exuberance that she did every single day.
