Chris Alonzo

Chris Alonzo, a cherished family man, avid sports enthusiast, and music lover, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2024, in Corpus Christi, TX, at the age of 84. Born on January 1, 1940, in Robstown, TX, Chris lived a full and vibrant life marked by his dedication to his family, his passion for recreational activities, and his love for rhythm and melodies.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Alonzo Sr. and Juanita Ramirez; as well as Primitivo and Donia Mage Esquivel, who raised him; and his siblings, Arnulfo Alonzo, Sara A. Gonzalez, and Luisa Rangel, with whom he shared many cherished memories.

Chris is survived by his devoted wife, Yolanda Alonzo; their children, Christine (Michael) Rodriguez, Patsy Melton, Dominga (Carlos) Ramos, Cynthia (Johnny) Cuevas, David (Emily) Ramos, and Patricia (Carlos) Ortiz; his siblings, Jose Alonzo Jr, Manuela Roland, Jimmy Roland, and Aurora Piñon; and his two special nieces, Grace (Bale), and Carmen (Dale). Chris was a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, who will miss him dearly. Chris' life was one of joyous engagement with the world around him. He was a man who found happiness in the simple pleasures of life, such as a perfect strike in bowling or a well-executed swing on the golf course. His feet were rarely still when music played, as dancing was one of his favorite ways to celebrate any occasion. Chris' eclectic taste in music meant that there was always a song in his heart, regardless of the genre. Throughout his life, Chris formed countless friendships and touched many lives with his warm smile and generous spirit. He was known for his easygoing nature and his ability to make those around him feel comfortable and valued. His presence was a source of stability and strength for his family, who found in him a constant source of love and support. As we bid farewell to Chris Alonzo, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of laughter, love, and cherished moments. While he may have left this earthly realm, his spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him to embrace life with the same zest and enthusiasm he exemplified. Chris' memory will forever be a beacon of joy and love in the hearts of his family and friends.
