David Vega Nesmith

David Vega Nesmith “Good Shooting”, age 70, passed away on July 30, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 3, 1948 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Dionicio Nesmith and Ramona (Vega) Nesmith. In his teenage years, David was a “life taker and heartbreaker” known for his sharp sense of style and love for dancing. It was because of his embodiment of the “Pachuco Style” he caught the eye of what was soon to be his wife of 50 years, Lydia (Basaldu) Nesmith. Throughout his adult life David was a “Jack of all trades”, owning and managing various businesses such as the “Good Shooting Game Room”, “Nesmith Furniture Store”, and “Nesmith Auto Detailing Shop”. David also had a love for billiards. Using his skill, he played in citywide leagues with a mostly undefeated record, which earned him the name “Good Shooting”. As a family man, David loved spending time with his family making them laugh at the many jokes and stories he would tell. David will truly be missed by all whom knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dionicio and Ramona Nesmith; sisters, Bertha Rojas, and Virginia Martinez; brothers, Dionicio Nesmith Jr. and Juan Nesmith.

David is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Lydia Nesmith; Son, David (JoAnne) Nesmith Sr.; and Daughter, Rhonda (Albert) Zamora Sr.; Also surviving are his grandchildren, John David Nesmith, Destiny (Randy) Rodriguez Sr., David Jesse Nesmith Jr., Devine Nesmith, Lyric Zamora, Albert Zamora Jr., Dion Zamora, Valentine Zamora; seven great grandchildren; and sister, Estella Cavazos.

The family will receive condolences on Sunday, August 5, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Treviño Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 6, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Cremation will follow.
