David Bazan Ruiz

David Bazan Ruiz passed away peacefully on Friday, September 9, 2021, at the age of 65 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born March 20,1956 in Corpus Christi, Texas to his parents, Santos and Herlinda Ruiz.

TSGT David Ruiz served proudly in the United States Air Force for twenty years, during which time he was awarded medals for Defense Service, Achievements and Commendations; as well as Training and Overseas Ribbons. He met the love of his life, Jackie, while they were both serving in the U.S. Air Force in Albuquerque, New Mexico; it was love at first site, as their courtship lasted just three months and were married in January of 1980 and remained together and in love for 41 years.

David was a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He was a dedicated educator, serving as Cub Scout leader and youth baseball coach prior to becoming an elementary school coach with the Alice Independent School District until his retirement after 20 years of service.

David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Santos and Herlinda B. Ruiz; brother, Oscar Hernandez; sister, Herminia Hernandez; nephew, Oscar Hernandez Jr; mother-in-law, Lona Rae Mills; and father-in-law, Jerry Cushing.

Among those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Jacqulene “Jackie” Ruiz; sons, Anthony Ruiz and Michael (Keri) Ruiz; granddaughter, Charlotte Olivia Ruiz; sister who raised him like her son, Minnie (Rene) Rios; sister, Linda (Jay) Bernal; brother, Robert (Linda) Rios; sister-in-law, Consuelo Hernandez; nieces, Celsa Anuela Rios and Graciela Hernandez Rodriguez; nephews, Jon Erik Bernal and Andrew Bernal; and extended family and dear friends.

Honoring David as pallbearers are Coaches, Kyle Atwood, Kory Atwood, Joey Heron, Jaime Boswell, Kim Kubala, and Robert Snyder.

The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, 120 E. Front St., Alice, Texas. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 1:30 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Funeral Mass at 2:00 PM.

Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Roberson-Collins Cemetery, with Air Force Military Honor Guard.
