A precious one from us has gone; a voice we loved is stilled, a place in our heart which can never be filled. God in his wisdom has recalled David and the blessing his love has given. Though the body slumbers here, his soul is safe in heaven.
David Vera was born April 5, 1960 to the late Monico and Maria Vera of Corpus Christi, Texas. David was dearly loved by many and was known by many “names of affection”; Dave and Bolio were amongst the most affectionate. David always knew how to make you laugh or smile; he was a humble and kind man. He lived a great life with many spirited adventures. He was blessed with many talents and gifts. David was the first in our family to attend college and graduate with an associate degree from Del Mar College and a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
David took pride in being there for his family and friends when they needed him most. Everyone was welcomed in his home and heart. It seems that he knew everyone in town and everyone knew him. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone who needed. David loved his fur babies. He gave them affectionate and memorable names like Chicken Fry, Lulu, Girl, and Daisy. David loved the sport of darts and he gained a family with everyone he knew and played darts with.
David was a huge sports and entertainment fan. Over his lifetime, David traveled to the biggest sports venues and entertainment conventions around the country. David took pride in collecting the most intricate sports and entertainment memorabilia of his generation.
Amongst David’s biggest loves was his love of recording family events with his cameras and recording equipment. David recorded weddings, Quinceaneras, and birthdays to name a few. His recordings and pictures will be treasured for generations to come.
In David’s younger days, he worked extremely hard to help care for his family; to include a host of nephews and nieces. There was nothing David wouldn’t do for his family. As he grew older, he was able to do so much to make his life a testament to the importance of working hard for what you wanted. He will be missed by all whom knew and loved him.
David passed away on July 18, 2019 at the age of 59. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Monico and Maria Vera; sister, Olga Cantu; and brother Monico Vera Jr.
David is survived by his sisters, Beatriz Escalante (Hector), Jesusita Vera, Maria Vera, and Melissa V. Lemon (Shaun); and numerous nieces, nephews, dart family, and extended family.
The family will receive condolences from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 11:00 AM.
