Demetrio "Sepillito" Hinojosa

Demetrio "Sepillito" Hinojosa, a cherished pillar of the Alice, Texas community, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2024, at the age of 65. Born on August 12, 1958, he was a lifelong resident of Alice who deeply valued his roots and the people who fulfilled his life with love and laughter. Sepillito, as he was affectionately known by those closest to him, was a man of many virtues, his life was a testament to the power of hard work and dedication, values he upheld through his long and respected career with Hinojosa & Sons Concrete. His commitment to his job was second only to his devotion to his family. He is preceded in death by his Queen and loving wife of 37 years, Albina Hinojosa; his father, Baldemar Hinojosa Sr.; and his brother, Baldemar Hinojosa Jr. Sepillito's legacy lives on through his beloved family, his mother, Maria T. Hinojosa; daughters, Tanya Hinojosa, Crystal Diaz, and Maria (Isaac) Ramirez; siblings, Pablo (Susie) Hinojosa, Graciela (Bobby) Bourlon, and Fidencio Hinojosa; the love and joy of his life, his grandchildren, Crystal Lynn Diaz, Andrew Hinojosa, Israel Diaz, Allieana Hinojosa, Kristella Diaz, Demi-ly Ramirez, Baylee Ramirez, Isaac Ramirez Jr.; great-grandson, Dezmond Soliz; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends, who will dearly miss him.

Demetrio was a proud graduate of Alice High School class of 1976. He was a jack of all trades who took pride in laying concrete with precision and care, a skill that earned him the respect of his colleagues and the trust of the community. His reliability, punctuality, and honesty were the hallmarks of his professional life and served as an example to all who knew him. Sepillito's passions were simple yet profound. He found joy in the timeless classics of old Western movies, with favorites like "Gun Smoke," "Bonanza," and "The Rifleman" providing a backdrop for countless hours of enjoyment with family and friends. The Dallas Cowboys held a special place in his heart. Easter was a treasured holiday for him, a day filled with laughter and jokes, breaking cascarones on each other, sharing a meal, and the warm fellowship with his loved ones. His black Chevy truck, a close second to his love for his family, was a symbol of his journey through life, well-maintained and always ready for the next adventure. Demetrio was always attentive to the needs of his family, generous with his time, wise advice, treasured guidance, and thoughtful actions. He was a faithful active member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. As we bid farewell to Sepillito, we honor his memory of a life well-lived, and we also celebrate the legacy of a man who was, in every sense, the bedrock of his family and a true friend to many. May he rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to us all, who were privileged to know him and love him.
