Dennis Caneles

Dennis Nicholas Caneles, born in Haverhill, Massachusetts on July 3, 1928, to Nicholas D. Caneles and Anna Caneles. He was preceded in death by his wife, Priscilla; his parents, and sister, Joanna.  He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Alejandro); son, Christopher; and two grandchildren, Deanna and Jeremy.

He grew up in Lynn, Massachusetts and graduated from Lynn English High School in 1950. He went to trade school to learn plumbing. He married Priscilla Jean Fuller on September 30 ,1956 and they were together for 56 years until her passing. They resided in Lynn, Massachusetts until they moved to Maine in 1970 then to Texas in 1980.

He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1964. He was known for always arriving at the Kingdom Hall very early.  When living in Maine that included arriving 2 hours earlier to help clear out the snow so the brothers could attend the meeting. And that never changed when they came to Texas many times arriving even before the doors opened. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone.

Dennis was quiet and reserved and was a man of few words but with his quirky smile and a handshake you always knew that he liked you.  When introduced he often referred to himself as “Dennis the Menace” just for a laugh.

He was a strong man and worked hard for his family. In hard times he walked miles to and from work to provide for his family, and never once complained.

Dennis loved baseball and for years followed his Boston Red Sox on the radio. He loved singing and had a beautiful strong voice. He always wanted to start his own choir group and give singing lessons which we are sure he will do when he is resurrected to a paradise earth. In later years, he enjoyed playing solitaire and drawing, which he could do for hours.

Dennis’ family will receive condolences on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 5426 Richter St. Corpus Christi Tx 78415, at 3:00 PM.
