Donald Lewis Yates

Donald Lewis Yates, 85, of Corpus Christi, Texas was called home to be with the Lord on November 30, 2022 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.

Donald was born in Lincoln, Arkansas on September 3, 1937. He served from 1955 to 1975 in the United States Navy becoming a Senior Chief Petty Officer. Donald was married to Zulema (Sue) Yates on August 7, 1963; they were married 59 years. Donald was an amazing husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, fisherman, veteran, and friend.

Donald is survived by his spouse; Zulema (Sue) Yates; daughter, Cindy Cruz (Patrick); granddaughters, Bailee Bryant and Brittnee Bryant; great-grandson, Greyson Lewis Perez; and other family and friends. Donald is preceded in death by his father, Roy Yates; mother, Beulah Yates-Phelan; sister, Betty Jean Browers; brother, Bobby Yates; and stepfather, Thomas Phelan.

The family will receive condolences on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara @ Port Ave. A Chapel service will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at 9:00 AM at Treviño Funeral Home. A funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 10:00 AM for Rite of Committal and Interment at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.

A celebration of life reception will be held at Island Presbyterian Church at 1:00p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Island Presbyterian Church. The family of Donald Yates wishes to thank all our family and friends for their love, support, and prayers.
