Edward Paul "Eddie" Hernandez

Edward Paul Hernandez, also known as Eddie, was called to Heaven on April 7, 2020 at the age of 65.  Eddie lived in Robstown, Texas but was from Corpus Christi where he was born to Margarita Benavidez and Pablo G. Hernandez. Eddie and his sister, Elizabeth “Chavela”, were raised together by their maternal grandparents, Jose H. and Leonor C. Benavidez. Eddie was a painter and a 1974 graduate of Moody High School. He was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Astros. Eddie was a joker who loved to make people laugh and loved to laugh along with them. Eddie was a loving husband, father, brother, son, and grandson.

Eddie leaves behind his wife, Rosie Hernandez; his two sons, John Edward and Christopher of Robstown, Texas; his daughter, Stephanie Hernandez; two grandsons, Sam and Ethan Hernandez of Pleasanton, Texas. He also leaves behind his mother,  Margarita B. Guerra of Houston, Texas; his loving sister, Elizabeth “Chavela” Leal, and his brother-in-law, Luciano “Lou” Leal; his Benavidez aunts and uncles with whom he was raised; his stepmother, Josie Hernandez; his other two sisters, Patsy (Rene) Sanchez and Thelma (Robert) Trejo of Houston, Texas; his two half-brothers, Pablo (Lilian) Hernandez of Sacramento, California and Ben (Veronica) Hernandez of Marysville, Washington; his half sister, Polly Yzaguirre; his mother-in-law; Lupita (Gilbert) Betancourt; his brother-in-law, Augustin Betancourt; his two loving nieces, Lena Marie Leal of Miami, Florida and Andrea (Curtis) Johnson; his nephew, Kevin Lou Leal of San Francisco, California; his three great-nieces and nephew, Ava Leonor, Curtis Mathew Johnson, and Lily Elizabeth Brown of Miami, Florida. He also leaves behind many other nieces, nephews, and cousins that he loved so dearly; as well as, many friends that he cherished.

His sons and his sister Chavela would like to thank friends and family for their contributions and their love and support during this difficult time.

Due to Covid-19, a private Rosary will be held and he will be laid to rest at Seaside Memorial Park. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date for family and friends.
