Elda Villanueva Wilburn

Elda V. Wilburn, age 91, of Corpus Christi, TX passed away on Saturday June 3, 2017. She was born on January 30, 1926 to Alberto and Eulalia Villanueva. Elda was also raised by her grandparents, Mr.& Mrs. Eulalio H. Marin. In 1947, Elda married Richard G. Wilburn and is preceded in death by him. She was also a proud graduate of Corpus Christi High School and long-time resident of Molina.

Elda was a mother, housewife, grandmother of 19 grandkids, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother and also worked for Haggar’s Slack Company and retired after 18 years. She spent her life raising a family, found solace in her gardening in care of her roses, and spent hours sewing all the wonderful clothes and creations. She is the loving mother of Elizabeth Rodriguez (Robert), Cynthia Ann Garcia, Richard V. (Sylvia), Michael (Dora), and Debra Leal. She is also preceded by her daughter Diana, brothers, Jesse Villanueva, Albert Villanueva and sister, Elva Resendez. Elda is also survived by her in-laws Esperanza Hernandez, Emma Garcia, Frances Martinez, Isabel Decks, Rosa Wilburn, and Eusebio Wilburn Sr.

There are many special people who came into Elda’s life and remained in her life. There are two we would like to acknowledge and thank, Norma and Amy Wilburn, for their continuous flower dedication of 25 plus years, on the special day of January 30th. In addition, in the family’s time of need, Reynaldo E Garcia has been there and was there in this very difficult time without any hesitation.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Richard A.Wilburn, Christopher R.Garcia, Reinaldo W.Garcia,

Isaac M. Wilburn, Jesse Leal, Mando Valdez, and Great grandson Percival Molina, Angel Valdez, Bentio Marinez III., and Eric A. Galvan. Honorary pallbearer will be her grandson, Robert Rodriguez.

Ninety one years of life. She endured, was strong, resilient, lived through all the struggles of life, and had faith in god. Her shining light began to lose the glow and brilliance as the good lord called her home. She leaves behind so many memories and lessons learned to carry forward by her entire family.

You can shed tears that she is gone or you can smile because she has lived You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back Or you can open your eyes and see all she's left Your heart can be empty because you can't see her or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember her and only that she's gone or you can cherish her memory and let it live on love you mom…..

The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 from 5pm to 9pm at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. at Port, with a holy rosary to be recited at 7pm. A Chapel Service will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 10am at Trevino Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
