Elena Martinez

Elena Martinez, 97, went to be with the Lord on March 7, 2023. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Elena volunteered with the Foster Grandparent Program for 29 years, in which 20 years were spent at Los Encinos Elementary School along with staff and faculty who became her second family. She was also a spiritual group leader for Mary Mother of the Church for 10 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gregorio and Soledad Martinez; husband, Mauricio Martinez; daughter, Irene Pena; sons, Erasmo and Victor Martinez; grandsons, Luis Alberto Martinez, Mauro Martinez, Jr., Victor Martinez, Jr.; brothers, Juan Franco Martinez and Santiago Martinez.

Elena is survived by her loving children: Maria Teresa (Jesus) Reyna, Gilbert (Maria De Consuelo) Martinez, Mauro Martinez, Oraila Martinez, and by numerous grandchildren and great, great, great grandchildren. Elena is also survived by her siblings: Irene Martinez, Raquel Martinez, Maria Martinez, Gregorio Martinez Jr., Sotera Martinez, Guadalupe San Juanita Harris, and Yolanda Hollom. A special thank you to teacher, Leticia Lopez, who Elena fondly referred to as her favorite daughter. A special thank you to all the grannies from the Foster Grandparent Program.

The family will receive condolences on Sunday, March 12, 2023, from 5 PM to 9 PM, at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara at Port Ave; The Holy Rosary will be recited at 6 PM by daughter, Maria T. Reyna and son, Gilbert Martinez. A funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Monday, March 13, 2023. Mass services will be held at 10 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers; son, Mauro Martinez; grandsons: Gilbert Gerardo Martinez, Jesse Reyna, Sr., Jose Angel Reyna, Sr., Javier Reyna, Sr., and family friend, David Elizalde. The Holy Lecture Readings will be recited by granddaughter, Cindy Valdez and grandson, Gilbert Gerardo Martinez. Music by son, Gilbert Martinez, his daughter, Victoria Martinez, and Moses Castro.
