Obituary

Elia “Ellie” Aguilar Ortiz, gained her wings on May 30, 2026, at the age of 83. While our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort knowing she is now with the Lord and reunited with her husband, Arnulfo S. Ortiz Sr., as well as her parents, Valentin and Concepcion Aguilar, in Heaven.

Ellie was a proud mother and is lovingly remembered by her six children, Marilyn, Marthalyn (Mateo), Noralyn (Joe), Madlyn, Arnold, and Natlyn. She was also blessed with seven grandchildren, Melanie (Nelson), Ricky, Ambere, Julian, Mario III, Annaliza, and Corina. She also leaves behind her 11 great-grandchildren who brought joy and pride to her life.

Born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, she was one of three sisters, Ninfa (Nick) Nunez and Beatrice (Leo) Morin. Family was at the center of her life. She treasured holidays and family gatherings, bringing loved ones together and creating cherished memories. As a young girl, she spent much of her time with her sisters, cousins, and friends. She enjoyed driving around with her sister in their father's 1954 Ford, riding bicycles with her cousins, Charlie, Martha, and MaryLu, and enjoyed the simple joys of childhood. Her summers were often spent at the Corpus Christi Bayfront, floating in the bay and enjoying the coastal breeze. She loved going to dances and often walked there with family and friends, creating memories filled with music, laughter, and companionship. She was a beautiful woman, remembered for her petite figure and signature style. She loved wearing high heels and fashionable hats, carrying herself with elegance wherever she went.

She served as a fountain girl at Price’s Chef and Lamar Pharmacy, where she enjoyed sharing moments with her sisters and friends. She also worked alongside her husband at the family auto shop as a manager. In addition, she served her community as a Notary Public. She genuinely found purpose in serving others. She gave much of her time by volunteering at a number of public schools, where she was recognized as an honorary life member of the PTA. She also cherished and loved her spoiled schnauzer, Lulu, who was by her side day and night. She will be remembered for her faith, love of music, especially mariachi, and the love she shared so freely with those around her. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the friends she loved, and the countless lives she touched throughout her life.

Ellie was a devoted woman of faith whose kindness, strength, and love touched everyone who knew her. As a prayer warrior, she faithfully lifted others in prayer; we ask that you honor her memory by praying for comfort, peace, and healing for her family during this difficult time.

Visitation for the family will begin at 8:30 AM, with public visitation following at 9:30 AM, on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara Street. A Spiritual Rosary will be recited at 1:00 PM, Holy Mass will follow at 2:00 PM, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3423 Rojo St. Services will conclude at the church.
