Elias Cadena Mendez, Jr.

Elias Cadena Mendez, Jr., went to be with the Lord on March 3, 2018 at the age of 50 after a long courageous battle with diabetes. Elias was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at the early age of 11, but that never slowed him down in pursing his dream. He worked as a dental lab technician for 28 years. He was an avid San Antonio Spurs fan, he enjoyed fishing, playing golf, weekend BBQ’s, but his passion was the written word, he never lost his faith. Elias was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Elias is survived by his wife of 25 years, Rose Mendez; sons, Joshua Anthony Mendez, Christopher Zackery Mendez, and Manuel Tunchez; parents, Elias (Connie) Cadena Mendez, Sr., and Anna M. Mendez; sister, Noemi (Hector) Garces; brother, Eliseo (Marie) Mendez; niece, Mercedes Illiana Garces; beloved pets, Bentley and Irie; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family will receive condolences on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara @ Port; with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. A Chapel Service will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Trevino Funeral Home. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
