Emma Cuellar, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2023, in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the age of 90. Born on October 5, 1933, in San Antonio, Texas, to Miguel Cuellar and Consuelo Torres, Emma was a woman whose kindness touched the lives of many. Emma was a cherished member of her community and will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family and friends. Her life was a testament to the power of giving without expectation and loving without limits. Those who knew her will recall her fondness for life's simple pleasures, such as shopping, dancing, and enjoying a good meal out. Emma was also a lover of flowers and fishing, she found joy in the beauty of nature and the thrill of a catch. Her parents, Miguel and Consuelo; her beloved daughter, Rosa Maria Lopez; her sister, Maria Cuellar Meza; her brother, Bobby Cuellar; and her stepmother, Aurora Cuellar, preceded Emma in death. Emma's legacy is carried on by her loving children, Andrea Lopez Weatherston, Emma Chavarria Villarreal, Esteban De Leon, and Amanda De Leon; and siblings, Francisco Cuellar, Maricela Cuellar Martinez, Felipe Phil Cuellar, Mike Cuellar, and Rudy Cuellar. She was a matriarch in the truest sense; her wisdom and warmth cascading down through generations, as evidenced by her 9 grandchildren, Michael Perez, Melinda Romero, Christina Sanchez, Esteban De Leon, Amanda De Leon, Brenda Liz Estrada, Jennifer Chavarria, Luis L. Chavarria, and Denise Diamond Liserio; 36 great-grandchildren, and 26 great-great-grandchildren. Each of them carries a piece of Emma's spirit, her nurturing love, and her boundless kindness. The honor of serving as pallbearers will be bestowed upon Jay Weatherston, Juan Romero, Esteban De Leon, Michael Perez, Daniel Williams, and Luis Chavarria. These individuals, representing the strong bonds Emma formed throughout her life, will carry her to her final resting place with the utmost respect and love.
As we bid farewell to Emma Cuellar, we celebrate a life well-lived and a woman well-loved. Her spirit will continue to guide us, her stories will continue to inspire us, and her love will forever be etched in our hearts. Emma's journey on this earth may have concluded, but the impact of her life will resonate for generations to come. Emma Cuellar's life will be honored in a service that reflects the joy and light she brought into this world. As we gather to remember her, we will share in the laughter and the tears, the memories and the moments that made Emma the extraordinary person she was. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Emma’s family will receive condolences on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Primera Iglesia Del Nazareno, 410 Virginia Ave., from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park at 1:00 PM.
