Enrique Mendez, a devoted family man and respected professional, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026. Born on January 20, 1944, Enrique's life was marked by a steadfast commitment to hard work, kindness, and an unwavering positive attitude that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Enrique began his career as a welder at Berry Contracting, where through dedication and leadership, he rose to the esteemed position of General Foreman. His colleagues remember him not only for his technical skill but also for his calm demeanor and the genuine care he consistently showed toward others in the workplace. Enrique was a man who faced challenges with optimism, always seeking the positive in every situation.

Outside of his professional life, Enrique cherished the simple joys of fishing and hunting, activities that brought him peace and a deep connection to nature. He was also a loving caretaker of his beloved pets, both dogs and cats, who were constant companions through the years.

Enrique’s warmth extended deeply into his family life. He is survived by his loving sisters, Teresa Mendez and Maria L. Mendez, and his sons, Enrique A. Mendez and Luis J. Mendez. Enrique A. Mendez’s wife, Tracy, and her children, Trinity Hare (21) and Blaine Hare (17), who were Enrique’s step-grandchildren, also remain close in his memory. The family is further blessed with several nieces, nephews, and cousins who hold his memory dear.

Enrique was preceded in death by his parents, Roberto G. and Benita A. Mendez; his brothers, Roberto Mendez and Crispin R. Mendez; his sister, Maria A. (Juan) Juarez; his aunt, Aurora M. (Jesus) Hernandez; and several nephews. Their light shines onward through the lives Enrique touched.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Avir at Corpus Christi for the compassionate and attentive care given during Enrique’s final months. Their dedication brought comfort and dignity to his last days.

Enrique Mendez will be remembered for his kindness, steady spirit, and the sincere love he offered to those around him. His legacy of caring and positivity will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. He leaves behind a family and community enriched by his presence and forever grateful for his life.

Enrique’s family will receive condolences on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St., from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 12:00 PM. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
