Ernesto Salinas Perez “El Coyote”

Ernesto Salinas Perez “El Coyote” entered eternal rest on April 15, 2025, at the age of 76. He was born on March 3, 1949 in Alice, Texas. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War Era. After honorably serving his country, he transitioned into civilian life working at the Corpus Christi Army Depot until his retirement.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Maria Manrique Perez; His parents Santos Perez & Senona (Emilio) Trevino; One brother, Santos Perez, Jr.

He is survived by one son, Ernesto (Noelia) Perez, Jr. of San Antonio Texas; one daughter, Melinda (Roger) Rodriguez of Corpus Christi, Texas. Seven grandchildren Sonia Maria (Chelsea) Perez-Hellinger of Temple, Texas, Sophia Delia (Clive) San Miguel, Saniya Noelle Perez, Ernesto Perez, III of San Antonio, Texas, Michael Anthony Perez of New Braunfels, Texas, Kylee Angel Rodriguez & Amber Skye Rodriguez of San Antonio, Texas. Two great grandchildren, Lorenzo Anthony San Miguel & Isabella Ravenna San Miguel of San Antonio, Texas. Four sisters, Aurora Garcia, Diana Nava, Aida (Gilberto) Munoz, Adela Trevino and one brother, Fernando Perez of Alice, Texas. Numerous nieces, nephews & his devoted caregivers, Amee, Amelia, Cindy, Janie and Susan.

The pallbearers will be Oscar Hughes, Jose Nava, Jesse Nava, Ruben Perez, Hector Gonzalez, Jose Garcia Jr., Danny Perez, and Patrick Perez. The honorary pallbearers will be Ernesto Perez, Jr., Ernesto Perez, III, Roger Rodriguez , and Michael Anthony Perez.

Ernesto’s family will receive condolences on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM at Treviño Funeral Home Alice, 120 E. Front St., with the Holy Rosary to begin at 12:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 1:30 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow with Full Military Honors at Roberson-Collins Cemetery.
