Estela Rebeca Garza passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on May 4, 2026, in Alice, Texas. Born on August 10, 1951, in Roma, Texas, Estela lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication, hard work, and deep devotion to her family and community.
Estela’s professional journey spanned over three decades as she served as a Secretary for Regional Home Health. Her work ethic and professionalism were evident throughout her career, which also included roles as a bank teller and as a secretary for various other businesses. Her commitment to excellence and her generous spirit made her a cherished colleague and friend.
A proud graduate of Roma High School class of 1970, Estela was an active athlete and took great pride in being a member of The Mighty Lady Gladiators basketball team. Her school years in the Roma Independent School District laid the foundation for a life rooted in the values of respect, honesty, and hard work—values she carried throughout her lifetime.
Those who knew Estela remember her as a woman of old-fashioned values combined with a lively and generous heart. She was always attentive to the needs of others; offering advice, guidance, or simply a comforting presence. Her energy and zest for life were infectious, whether she was traveling the world alongside her best friend and sister, Francis, or sharing treasured moments at home.
An exceptional cook, Estela’s culinary talents left lasting impressions on her family and friends. Among her specialties were her famous breakfast of champions, “Nopalitos,” a delicious morning meal cherished by many, along with her beloved enchiladas and picadillo, dishes that were definite family favorites. Estela also delighted in listening and dancing to Tejano music, sewing, and crocheting, crafting beautiful accessories and decor that reflected her caring nature. Christmas held a special place in her heart, a time she treasured for family gatherings filled with laughter, joy, and the simple pleasure of watching her grandchildren open their gifts.
Estela is survived her faithful and loving husband of 54 years, Salvador Garza; her sons, Eli Garza and Victor (Sadie) Garza, they were the light and life of her world; her grandchildren, Ryan Garza, Dyllon Garza, Ximena Garza, and Joaquin Garza, they were the pride and joy of her life; her sister and best friend, Francisca (Sergio) Hernandez; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Horacio Garza, Vicente Garza, Joe Garza, Rodrigo Garza, Alfredo (Estella) Garza, Maria Elena (Jorge) Estrada, Elva Garza, Lourdes (Eliseo) Garza, San Juanita (Guadalupe) Garza, Francisco (Sylvia) Garza, Teresa (Alfredo) Cantu, Marta Garza, and Rosario (Richard) Cavazos; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Estela’s presence will be deeply missed and her spirit endures in the memories shared by those who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Epifanio and Concepcion Naranjo; sister-in-law, Irma Garza; and brother-in-law, Arturo Garza.
Estela Rebeca Garza’s legacy is one of love, unity, and unwavering commitment to family and community. She touched many lives with her generosity and kindness, leaving behind a rich tapestry of cherished memories that will continue to inspire all who had the honor of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace.
Estela’s family will receive condolences on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Trevino Funeral Home Alice, 120 E. Front St., from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM, at which time a funeral cortege will depart to St. Joseph Catholic Church for Memorial Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Services will conclude after mass.
