Ester L. Gonzalez, a beacon of strength and unwavering love, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025, at the age of 83 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was born on February 4, 1941, in Falfurrias, Texas, and became known to many as the heart of her community.
Ester is preceded in death by her loving parents, Mr. Pedro & Mrs. Anita Marin, of Corpus Christi, Tx; her loving sister; Estella L. Sanchez; granddaughter, Vanessa A. Gonzalez; nephews, Joel Pineda Jr and Marcus Marin; brother-in-law, Joel Pineda Sr; and daughter-in-law, Delma Gonzalez.
Ester is survived by her loving and amazing sons, Rene (Mari) Gonzalez of San Antonio, Tx, Amado Gonzalez, Miguel (late Delma) Gonzalez, and Frank Gonzalez, all of Corpus Christi, Tx; her beautiful sisters, Rafela (Ronnie) G. Capetillo of San Antonio, Tx and Guadalupe (late Joel) Pindea Sr. of Corpus Christi, Tx; her daughter-in-law, Veronica Rubio; her wonderful grandchildren, Michael Ray, Brandon, Veronica, Amanda, Isaac, Miguel Jr, Christopher, and Arianna; and her five great -grandchildren. She also leaves behind her amazing nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and so many great friends that she made over the years.
Ester's life was a testament to her resilience and dedication. As a single mother, she raised her four sons with a grace and tenacity that inspired all who knew her. Despite the challenges she faced, Ester provided for her family through her long-standing career as a housekeeper. Her work ethic and commitment to her children were the cornerstones of their family life, and her unwavering support enabled her sons to grow into men of character and strength.
Beyond her role as a provider, Ester was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, sharing her passion for the game with friends and family alike. Her enthusiasm for her favorite team was infectious, and game days were always a special occasion in her home. Her greatest joy was found in the love she had for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; Ester had a unique and special way of making each of them feel deeply loved and valued, creating a legacy of love that will live on through the generations.
Ester was also the life of the party when it came to dancing and socializing. She would often go out dancing with her sons to the local bar, where she was affectionately known as Grandma G or Mama G. Her vibrant spirit and warm presence made her a beloved figure in the community, and she never missed an opportunity to bring a smile to the faces of those around her. The memory of Ester L. Gonzalez will be treasured forever by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her spirit, characterized by love, fortitude, and joy, will continue to inspire and guide those she leaves behind. Ester's journey through life was one of profound impact, touching hearts and leaving an indelible mark on the world.
As the sun sets on her remarkable life, we bid farewell to a woman of extraordinary warmth and love. Ester will be deeply missed, but her legacy will endure in the stories, memories, and love she leaves behind. Her bright light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her, and her influence will be felt for many years to come.
In honor of Ester's life and the profound difference she made in the lives of so many, her family will gather to celebrate her memory and the joy she brought to this world. She will be remembered as a woman of incredible strength, boundless love, and a joyous spirit that could light up any room. Ester L. Gonzalez's legacy is one of love, and it is with love that we say goodbye to a truly remarkable woman.
A Memorial Service honoring Ester’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port Ave., from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM; with a Holy Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM. Services will conclude that evening.
