Eulalia “Lala” Guerrero Carrillo, aged 87, was called away on June 6, 2024, at the Corpus Christi Medical Center - Northwest. She was born on April 18, 1937, in Corpus Christi, TX, to Eulalio H. Guerrero and Andrea Guzman Guerrero. She is survived by her children Aurora Castillo, Bernardo Carrillo Jr, Armando Carrillo, Fernando Carrillo, Leonardo Carrillo, Cynthia Salas - Leal, Emilia Carrillo Garza, Gloria Quesada, Lorraine Jackson, their spouses, and her siblings.
Lala was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker and she raised her family in Corpus Christi, Texas. After her children had grown, married, and started their own families, she remained in her home of three with her husband, Bernardo Carrillo Sr, and their son, Francisco Carrillo, to whom she remained his caretaker in any capacity she could. She remained married to Bernardo Carrillo Sr for many years until his passing. She continued to care for their son, Francisco Carrillo, for the remainder of his years.
In the years after, Lala continued to be present for her family, continuing to visit her children and their families that lived near or far from Corpus Christi. Her love knew no distance; she loved being around her family, creating crafts, and indulging in candy. She loved to attend and dance at any special occasion she was invited to. She would call every person in her family, immediate or extended, on their birthday. For every holiday, Lala made sure no one felt excluded from activities or gifts. Memories of her generosity of spirit, and how she accepted not just her children and grandchildren into her home with open arms, but also to the spouses and their extended families as well. She made sure everyone felt welcomed into her family.
Lala was a matriarch in true form, and memories of her will be cherished forever. From being referred to as Lady, Mother, Grandma, Momo, or even Moo Moo, she was the home and heart of a big family that wasn’t just made from her own body, but also the family that was made from her strong and gravitational pull of anyone that treated her with kindness and respect.
While she will be missed in this life, there is peace in knowing she will be reunited with her husband, Bernardo Francisco Sr, her son, Francisco Carrillo, and her grandson, Roy Castillo, in heaven.
Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”
Lala’s family will receive condolences on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara @ Port Ave, from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM, with a Holy Rosary to recited at 7:00 PM that evening.
