Eusebio Flores, Jr., aka CHEVO, hardworking husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend moved on to continue his journey as a child of God on December 6, 2019. Chevo was born on November 12, 1946 in Corpus Christi, TX, to Eusebio Flores, Sr. and Juanita Cimental Flores. He attended Roy Miller High School up to the 12th grade, then he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served from 1967-1970 during the Vietnam Era in the Vietnam Ninth Infantry Division ’67-’68. Years later he continued his education at Del Mar College where he earned his Associates in Liberal Arts.
His love for vehicular body work bloomed at a very early age. He worked tirelessly and felt much fulfillment when he saw the brilliant restoration his hard-working hands and intellectual savvy produced. He worked hard and expected everyone to work hard too, he would get all shook-up if you goofed-off. He often said “Primero se raja el cemento que me raje yo” translated: “Concrete will crack before I do”. His boundless energy kept him working up to the day before his passing when our Father called him home to enjoy peace in heaven. No more sanding, priming, painting.
Gone before him were his father, Eusebio Flores, Sr. in February 1980; his mother, Juanita Cimental Flores in March 2001; brother, Jesse Flores in May 1995; and his sister-in-law, Adriana Gonzalez Torres in January 2005.
Chevo is survived by his loving wife, Janie De La Cruz; children, Eusebio Flores III and wife, Jessica, Burke, VA, Christine and husband, Kevin Richman, Corpus Christi, TX, Sergio Flores, Corpus Christi, and Eddie Flores, Corpus Christi; grandchildren, Andrew, Steven, Mathew, Emma Yee, and Zoe; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Lupe Torres; sister, Charlotte and husband, Alex Narvaez; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the Spohn Shoreline A4/MICU team, especially Mitchell. Chevo himself, from his death bed, told Mitchell how grateful he was for the care he gave him.
The family will receive condolences from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Sunday, December 15, 2019, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port; with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM. A funeral cortege will depart at 10:30 AM to Christ The King Catholic Church, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 16, 2019. Rite of committal and interment will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
Honoring him as pallbearers will be the distinguished Kevin Richman, Chevo Flores III, Andy Trevino, Andrew Flores, Allan De La Cruz, and Sergio Flores.
In lieu of flowers, monetary contributions can be made directly to the family.
