Evangelina “Eva” Anaya passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at the age of 88. She was a loyal, dedicated, and loving wife to Ramiro all the years of their marriage. She was also a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed by all whom knew and loved her.
Eva was the very definition of a hard worker; both at home and in her career. She never knew an idle moment. She filled her evenings and weekends with cooking, baking, sewing, and embroidering and she spent her retirement babysitting, driving cancer patients to their treatments, and most importantly, spreading the Good News through her deeds and actions. As anybody who knew her can attest, Eva was a devout Christian who never missed an opportunity to tell people about Jesus or give a wise word of advice when needed. If you dropped in for a visit, you’d likely find her at the kitchen table with her Bible open reading and praying. It never took long before she’d offer you “un cafecito” and a warm heartfelt conversation soon followed.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, Ramiro Anaya; her parents, Jesus and Gavina Villarreal; brothers, Alfredo (Mamie) Villarreal, Guadalupe (Felicita) Villarreal, Reynaldo (Luz) Villarreal, Ramon (Tila) Villarreal, Ramiro (Esther) Villarreal, Jesus (Frances) Villarreal; sisters, Virginia (Frank) Gomez, Albina (Frank) Guerra; and brother-in-law, Armando Salinas.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Samuel (Teresa) Anaya; daughter, Aurora (Daniel) Reyna; sister Eloisa Salinas; grandchildren, Samuel (Stephanie) Anaya, Jessica (Nick) Culbertson, JoAnn (Danny) Garcia, Oscar (Deynira) Ruiz Jr, Adam (Angie) Ruiz, Gabrielle Ruiz, Omar (Jacob) Reyna, and Javier Reyna; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive condolences on Friday, July 23, 2021, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, 120 E. Front St., Alice, Texas; with Prayer Service by Emmanuel Baptist Church Pastor, Craig Blakeslee, at 2:00 PM. Rite of Committal and Interment at Alice Cemetery will follow.
Honoring Evangelina as pallbearers are Oscar Ruiz Jr., Adam Ruiz, Gabrielle Ruiz, Jared Medina, Esai Ruiz, Kristofer Ruiz, Ramiro Ruiz, and Daniel Garcia Jr.
Face masks must be worn, and social distancing must be practiced while attending funeral services due to the current pandemic.
