Frances Ramirez Mallett passed away on March 19, 2023, at the age of 87 in Pearland, Texas. She was born to her parents, Abel and Rumalda Ramirez, in San Diego, Texas. Frances was also known as Ama, Mamacita, Wela, Grandma, and Tia and she was a wonderful and loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and great-great-great grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her and loved her.
Frances was a faithful and active member of San Jose Mission in Palito Blanco and lived her faith through her actions and generosity. She was always attentive to the needs of her family and neighbors and was a lifetime supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital. She would always tell her children to have faith and trust in God because “Sin Dios no tienes nada”. She made sure they learned the life values of hard work, honesty, respect, and most importantly of all, family unity and love.
She was a great cook and the smell of freshly made tortillas would greet her children as they were coming from school, which they enjoyed eating with mantequilla (butter). She loved shopping and spending time with her sisters. Frances’ favorite holiday was Easter because of its spirituality. She loved having fun with her grandchildren, especially the Easter egg hunt, and the family gathering to eat, laugh, joke, and rejoice with one another.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 49 years, Ricardo Mallett, Sr; daughter, Rosalinda Smith; son, Ricardo Mallett Jr; parents, Abel and Rumalda Ramirez; sisters, Suzana Olvera, Patsy Lopez, and Anna Maria Caballero; brother, Mickey Ramirez; and son-in-law, Oscar Cantu.
Left behind to cherish Frances’ memories are her daughters, Mary Frances Mallett (Servando), Gloria Barrientes (Edward), Norma Cantu, Rosalina Mallett, and Rosanna Vasquez; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive condolences on Thursday, March 23, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 12:30, at Trevino Funeral Home, 120 E.
