Francisco Martinez Jr

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved father, Francisco Martinez Jr., who left us on September 6, 2024, at the age of 82, surrounded by his loving family in his final moments.

He was a hard worker that provided for his family; he was not only our father but a father figure to many. He was one to share stories and reminisce about his life; stories we've heard many times, and some we are just now hearing for the first time. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. "Once a Marine, Always a Marine"

He had many hobbies and interests throughout his life including spending his time at the Ayers bowling lanes trying to get some strikes and avoiding gutter balls. Going to various fishing spots hoping to get a catch, barbecuing just about every weekend, and making his tamales every year during the holidays was a treasured tradition. He was a true fan of the Dallas Cowboys during their good and bad seasons. He enjoyed being with family and close friends just listening to music, singing along with a cold Miller Lite in his hands, enjoying life.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Rosa, as well as his children, Elisa, Angie, Christina, and Daniel; his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emily, and Nick; his great-grandchildren, Joan and Amelia; and his four sisters, Lali Gomez, Eva Pena, Janie (Bobby) Meza, and Terri Ray, who will all continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. May you forever rest in peace and join your son, our brother, Francisco Martinez III, as you enter eternal life.

Francisco’s family will receive condolences on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port Ave.; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
