Francisco V. Olivarez Sr., 81, of Corpus Christi, TX passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021, in the ICU at Doctors Regional Hospital.
He was born in Mercedes, TX to the late Juan Olivares Jr. and the late Lilia Villarreal Gonzalez. He has lived in Fresno, California, Jacksonville, Florida, Lubbock, TX, and other cities in TX, but made Corpus Christi, TX his home for most of his life and after retirement. He has worked many jobs, from an agriculture worker, mechanic, and truck driver to a security guard.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two siblings.
He is survived by six sisters; two brothers; his nine children, Francisco Jr. (Mary) Olivarez of Corpus Christi, TX, Margaret Olivarez of San Antonio, TX, Juan (Elizabeth) Olivarez of Houston, TX, Norma (Wally) Hernandez of Sandia, TX, Javier (Teresa) Olivarez of Corpus Christi, TX, Ricardo (Pamela) Olivarez of Corpus Christi, TX, Rosie (Brian) Butler of Corpus Christi, TX, Michael Olivarez of Corpus Christi, TX, and Brenda Olivarez of Corpus Christi, TX; and 27 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Our father was known to many as “Kiko” and lived his life to the fullest. He had a big love of western movies, traveling, the Dallas Cowboys, and his family. We will miss him dearly. “There are no goodbyes. Wherever you’ll be, you’ll be in our heart.” Rest now Dad, until our time to meet again.
The family will receive condolences on Monday, November 8, 2021, at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara @Port Ave, Corpus Christi, TX; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM that evening. A funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM at Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
