Francisko D. Gamez

Francisko D. Gamez, beloved uncle, brother and friend to many, passed away on June 5, 2017 at the age of 81, in Robstown, Texas. He was born in East Chicago, Indiana on March 25, 1936 to Jose and Maria Gamez. He served our Lord for many years as a Priest, before retiring to enlist in the U.S. Army where he served 3 tours of duty in Vietnam. Francisko continued to serve our country by re-enlisting for 20 more years in the U.S. Army where he retired as a Master Sergeant. During his service to our country he earned many medals and awards.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Gamez; mother, Maria Gamez; siblings, Phillip, Adel, Lupe, John, Bob, Nellie, Robert, Maria, Joe, and Pilar.

Francisko is survived by his siblings, Ciperano, Jesse, Raymond, and Christina; many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brother-in-law; special niece, Ester Rivera; extended family, George Molina, who was his best friend and caregiver of 24 years, Fred Villalobos, and JoDee Verbiah; beloved family friend, Father Raphael; canine family, Jellybean, Lollipop and Mia; birds, Gabby and Ginger.

The family will receive condolences on Monday, June 12, 2017, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St., from 11am to 12:30pm; where a Rosary will be recited at 12:30 p.m.

Funeral cortege will depart the funeral chapel at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 12, 2017, to Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery where he will be laid to rest at 2:00pm
