Gabriel Robert Benavidez

Gabriel Robert Benavidez passed away suddenly on October 17, 2017 at the young age of 21. He was a sweet and loving son, boyfriend, brother, grandson, uncle, cousin, and nephew. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His smile would brighten up the room and his sense of humor will never be forgotten. Gabriel was a jokester, a traveler, a lover of nature and the outdoors. He helped others in any way possible and always putting others before himself. He enjoyed to cook and BBQ and make sure everyone liked it. He also loved to make his own music, create new things and ideas. Gabriel appreciated his mother taking him on various travels to enhance his diverse optimistic view of the world and his future. A judgmental person he was not, Gabriel was always positive with everyone and everything, but most of all he truly believed in God and always saw the good in others. Gabriel adored his brothers and sister, his dog Wheezy, and had a great loving relationship with his niece Rivae and nephew Randy. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Benavidez; his maternal grandfather, Alejandro R. Flores; his paternal grandfather, Gilbert Benavidez, Sr.; his Uncle Damian Benavidez. Gabriel is survived by his girlfriend, Brianna Ledesma and their expecting child; mother, Felicia (Alex Meza) Flores; and step-mother, Jessica Benavidez; siblings, Lt. Jesus (Kaitlin) Pena, Jr., Sabrina (Andrew Martinez) Pena, Orlando Martinez, Robert Benavidez, Jr., and Jesse Benavidez; maternal grandmother, Consuelo B. Flores; paternal grandmother, Beatrice Salinas; numerous, uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces. The family will receive condolences on Monday, October 23, 2017 at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. at Port from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the evening; where a Vigil for the deceased and Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral cortege will depart the funeral chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 to Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
