Gary Herbert York

Gary Herbert York, 82, of Corpus Christi passed away November 6, 2018. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Louise Scruggs, his father, Lewis York, and his 3 siblings: Mary Gayle Todd, Jerry Lloyd York, and Lewis Lee York. He is survived by his ex-wife, Mary Lou York, children, Gary Lee York (Amy Oppy), Kathryn Ann York (Kevin Johnston), Laurie Lynn York (Rodolfo Guillen), and two grandchildren.

Gary attended Riverside High School in Fort Worth, then served in the Army. He attended TCU before marrying his college sweetheart, Mary Lou. He earned a certified consumer credit executive credential while working at Parkland Hospital in the financial department. He furthered those skills working for the Lichtenstein family in Corpus Christi and bettering the lives of family and friends. He loved playing golf, telling jokes, and had a knack for piano playing that few knew about. He was active in Civitan for many years and helped start the first club in Mexico.

He was known for his quick wit and his kind and compassionate spirit. He is dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
