Genoveva Vargas Hammonds

Genoveva "Genieve" Vargas Hammonds, age 94, passed away surrounded by family on November 1, 2014. She is preceded in death by her husband, Andy Hammonds; son, Gaylen Hammonds; parents, Mariano and Ignacia Vargas; sisters, Hortencia Yglesias and Virginia Garcia; and brothers, Genaro Vargas and Fernando Vargas. She is survived by her daughter, Belia (Miguel N.) Ruiz; son, Richard (Joyce) Hammonds; grandchildren: Brenda, Carrie Ann, Julia, and Randle; 9 great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. Pallbearers will be Richard Hammonds, Rolando Garcia, Jorge Yglesias, Michael Tamez, Homer Garcia, and Miguel Ruiz. The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 from 3 to 9 pm, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara at Port; with a Rosary to be recited at 7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014, at St. Pius X Catholic Church at 10 am. Burial will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
