Gerardo Estrada

Gerardo "Big Jerry" Estrada, a cherished father, son, brother, and friend, passed away at the age of 44 on April 24, 2024, in San Antonio, TX. Born on January 13, 1980, in Corpus Christi, TX, Jerry lived a life marked by enthusiasm, camaraderie, and a passion for the simple joys that brought people together. Jerry was known for his larger-than-life personality and his ability to light up any room with his presence. He had an infectious laugh and a smile that could ease the heaviest of hearts. His love for pool was legendary, and he could often be found wielding a cue with precision at various pool tournaments, where he not only competed but also formed lifelong friendships. An avid sports fan, Jerry's dedication to the Raiders and the Astros was unwavering. He approached his love for fantasy football with the same strategic mindset and fervor that he did his favorite sports teams. His competitive spirit was always in good nature, and he was both a gracious winner and a good sport in defeat. Jerry's pride and joy were his three children, Jalen Alexander, Manuel Louis, and Nevaeh Sky, who inherited their father's zest for life and his kind heart. They, along with his mother, Erlinda Estrada; siblings, Veronica Rebecca Rodriguez (Demitrius), Angie Delvalle (Ernest), and Blanca Estella Galvan (James); aunt, Juanita Estrada Peña (Teodolo); his loving nieces, nephews, and extended family, survive him. They will forever cherish the memories and the love he showered upon them. Preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Guadalupe and Jose Guadalupe Estrada; his dear uncles, Victor Carbajal, Miguel Estrada, and Reynaldo Estrada; and aunt, Estella Garcia, Jerry's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the importance of family. Each of these individuals played a significant role in shaping the man Big Jerry became, and their values and traditions live on through him. The family also wishes to extend a special shout-out to the myriad of friends who provided unwavering support throughout Jerry's life. The camaraderie and care shown by these individuals were a testament to the impact that Jerry had on those around him. He was a man who valued friendship and loyalty above all else, and the community he built will feel his absence deeply. Jerry's life was a testament to the power of living with an open heart and an enduring spirit of generosity. He taught those around him the value of seizing each day and finding joy in the connections we make with one another. His departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. As we say goodbye to Jerry, we take comfort in knowing that his legacy will continue through the lives of his children and the stories that will be passed down for generations. He was a beacon of love and joy, and while we will miss his physical presence, his spirit will always be with us.
