Gilberto Macias Rios

Gilberto Macias Rios, a treasured soul whose life was a testament to love and wisdom, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2024, in his hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on April 26, 1941, Gilberto's journey came full circle as he departed this world surrounded by the love and warmth of the place, he called home. Gilberto, affectionately known by his family and friends, was a man who carried the legacy of his parents, Anita and YR Rios, with grace and humility. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Beto, Chris, and Robert, leaving behind a rich history interwoven with their shared memories. Gilberto's life was blessed with his children from his first marriage, Gilbert, Daniel, and Martha. He then later found companionship with his beloved wife, Guadalupe Mota, who together went on to have Eric and Liza. Nonetheless, Gilberto’s children were the pride and joy of his life, each embodying the values he held dear. He is survived by his devoted brothers, Alberto and YR Rios, and his sister, Anita, who will continue to honor his memory through their lives. Gilberto's legacy extends to a multitude of nieces, nephews, grandkids, and great- grandkids, each of whom had the privilege to experience his kindness, wisdom, and the quiet strength of his loving guidance. Gilberto was a man of simple pleasures and huge sports lover with an unwavering passion for the Dallas Cowboys. His loyalty to his team was as steadfast as his commitment to his family. The joy of game days was only surpassed by the time he spent with his family, especially his grandkids, who were the light of his life. The laughter and love that filled these gatherings will be cherished memories that will continue to bring comfort and smiles to his family. Above all, Gilberto was a humble man. His humility was not a mere trait but a way of life that he embraced wholeheartedly. He navigated the complexities of life with a gentle spirit and a kind heart, always putting others before himself. He was the embodiment of love and wisdom, touching the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His words were measured, his advice sought after, and his presence a source of calm in the storm. As we reflect on Gilberto's life, we are reminded of the beauty of a life spent in service to others, the joy of a life filled with passion, and the peace that comes from a life filled with love. We are all better for having known him, and while we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the extraordinary life of Gilberto Macias Rios, a man who was truly loving and wise.
