Gloria Delacruz Alvarez, a beacon of love and gentleness, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2024, in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the age of 89. Born on May 13, 1934, in San Benito, Texas, Gloria's life was a tapestry of devotion to her family, a passion for creativity, and a love for the simple joys in life. Gloria's warmth and kindness were the cornerstones of her existence. She navigated life with a gentle spirit that drew people to her, making lasting connections with all who were fortunate enough to cross her path. Her loving nature was most evident in her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Gloria is survived by her cherished daughter, Maria V. Diaz; her adored five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a treasured great-great-granddaughter, who will all carry forward her legacy of love. Her husband, Pedro Alvarez; her parents, Pedro and Jesusa Delacruz; her six siblings; and her grandson, David Escobedo, preceded Gloria in death. They were the stars in her sky, and her reunion with them is a comforting thought to those she leaves behind. Gloria's interests reflected her nurturing soul. She found solace and joy in arts and crafts, with a particular talent for sewing. Her hands lovingly created countless treasures that will be cherished by her family for generations. Her affinity for plants spoke of her ability to see beauty in growth and change, a metaphor for her own life's journey. Her two chihuahuas, Bella and Chiquita, were more than pets; they were her constant companions, her source of laughter, and her precious confidants. Gloria's love for her furry friends was a testament to her capacity for unconditional love and companionship. Those who knew Gloria will remember her as the embodiment of love, kindness, and gentleness. Her presence was a gift, her smile a comfort, and her memory will be a guiding light. Gloria Alvarez's life was a beautiful reflection of the love she gave so freely, and she will be deeply missed by all who were touched by her grace. Gloria’s family will receive condolences on Thursday, April 25, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port Ave.; with a Holy Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM. A Chapel Service will begin at 9:30 AM on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Treviño Funeral Home followed by Rite of Committal and Interment at 11:00 AM at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
